Some more great reviews for Tiger and Tiger Tale. "Tiger and Tiger Tale is a magical dramatization and a modern metaphor for the dual nature of human beings. Go wild and catch it somewhere!" ***** Edinburgh Guide "Kim Moore’s live sound and music gives the Tiger a vocal presence while enhancing the big emotional engagement of both pieces. Fred Pommerehn’s set is an engaging work of art in itself which he subtly and effectively lights himself." The Stage

Photos by Brian Hartley "Before a step has been danced, the spirit of collaboration bursts out from Barrowland Ballet's imaginative new work." **** Scotland on Sunday "Barrowland Ballet's Tiger triumphs." Melanie Bavajee "ONE story, but in two cleverly age-appropriate versions, is the inspired concept behind Tiger/Tiger Tale, the latest spirited escapade from Barrowland Ballet." **** The Herald
Balladen om et Paddetryne (Pondlife) is opening tonight at Ålesund's Arbeideren kulturhus. And it was such a joy to see what a lot of work they've put into transforming the building for the show. They've made it into a place young people can love before and after the show. Brilliant. All thanks to the amazing brains of Eva Eklöf Mørkeset and the superb dress sense of Endre. And all the students who have worked for 3 days to get it ready.
The moon below my Norwegian flight as I travel to Ålesund, Norway to see tomorrow night's opening of Pondlife McGurk. I'm over the moon. I am. The driver on the X19 from Glasow to Easterhouse is proud of his bus. He's polishing the door. That's nice. It is quite a new bus. And the sun comes tumbling across George Square where they're getting ready for the Commonwealth Games by closing off as much of the pedestrianised bit as possible, this forces people to walk around the perimeter, thereby getting fitter and losing weight, ready to be a part of Team GB. I'm going in for the final week of technical rehearsals on two dance pieces Tiger and Tiger Tale. This bit of rehearsals is often the hardest bit, trying to hold more than one thing in my head is difficult at the best of times, but trying to think about string, hooks, buckets, jump suits and where Platform Arts Centre keep the Hoover whilst still trying to make sure the shows are hitting all the right spots actually makes me sweat a bit. Today press is kicking in with an interview on BBC Scotland's Culture Studio this afternoon. Oh blimey! I always sound like an arse on these things. I'll probably end up forgetting an important word halfway through a sentence; a word like "the" or "it". Pondlife McGurk will be having it's Norwegian premiere on 21st September 2013 at Teatret Vårt. If you happen to be in Molde. |
